2009 Annual Report
Louisiana Envirothon is a multidisciplinary, environmental problem-solving competition for students in grades 6 through 12 designed to teach Louisiana students basic environmental concepts through participation in a fun event while working as a team. Teams of five young people will train and compete in five natural resource areas: 1) soils and land use, 2) aquatic resources, 3) forestry, 4) wildlife, and 5) a current environmental issue. Team members will be given a written test to complete, which involves hands-on field activities as they rotate through a series of stations managed by natural resource specialists.  There is also an oral presentation component to the competition, which requires the teams to conduct research and develop a presentation on a specified current environmental issue.
